I came across this video on www.worldstarhiphop.com that had two girls talking about black people. I feel it's very sad that there are people in the world that think of black people this way. This should be taken as a wake up call for African Americans to step it up. Yes I am mixed but I take pride in my African American culture and it upsets me that some of the things these girls were saying were true. Now i will agree that a lot of it was blown way out of proportion and she probably experienced some pretty bad stuff to make her feel this way about blacks. Many of the things she mentioned were very stereotypical and it's sad that we feed this stereotype in many ways. She mentioned "It's not all black people it's the niggers"...WOW. I was really stuck on this part of the video. So I grabbed the dictionary and looked up the word "nigger" and it said "USAG: The word nigger was used as an adjective denoting a black person as early as the 17th century and has long had strong offensive connotations. Today it remains one of the most racially offensive words in the language. Also referred to as 'the n-word,' nigger is sometimes used by black people in reference to other black people in a jocular or disparaging manner, or some variant in between (in somewhat the same way that queer has been adopted by some gay and lesbian people as a term of self-reference, acceptable only when used by those within the community)."
This is where we hurt ourselves...referring to each other as "nigger" or "nigga". Not only did I read that definition but i also read another definition defining the word "nigger" as ignorant. We go around calling each other "nigga" not knowing that we are calling each other ignorant and this is exactly the way many people look at us. I'm not saying that all African Americans are ignorant, I'm saying that we need to get ourselves together and recognized this pandemic. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Malcolm X, and many many more did not fight for our freedom for us to go around calling each other ignorant. Years ago we banned together fighting for a better future and it's still a fight today. I think now days we are so spoiled because of the freedom we have that we forget to recognize that there is still a fight. Maybe not for freedom but more so for recognition and respect.
I won't be a hypocrite and say I've never used the "n" word, but watching that video has really made me disgusted with that word. If thats the way anyone views black people, I dont want to be apart of that window.
Sadly one of the best pop/r&b singers is dead. I absolutely could not believe it when I heard about it. I didn't want to believe it. I thought to myself..."Who would make up such a sick rumor". Then reality hit me when I was flipping through channels and all that was shown on t.v. was that Whitney Houston was dead. She was so young at only 48 with children left behind. I will never forget the beautiful runs I have always tried to mimic or her beauty that was well known world wide. I shed a few tears when I saw the picture of her and Michael Jackson together. Two legends...gone. My heart goes out to her grieving family and close friends. Though she is gone, she can NEVER be replaced or forgotten. Rest In Peace Whitney Houston <3
Okay so song number five is now complete! I definitely stepped out of my comfort zone with this one. It's grown and sexy and most of all FUN! This is a straight up CLUB BANGER! I was influenced by Kalenna, from Dirty Money, song "Go to Work". Her swagger is dope in this song. I have my own swag but i think stepping out of my comfort level will definitely show my ability to step outside of my element. A little change never hurt anybody. I know it seems like I've been missing but bare with me. I've been in the studio working my BUTT OFF and I truly do believe you'll be able to tell once you hear my new songs. Playground Studios has done a wonderful job at working so diligently on my new tracks especially with the sound quality they are able to produce. They are so patient and great at helping me produce the best vocals I can. We all have very different creative views and I think this is what makes the best songs. I am so proud of Vyzion as well. There New Years Eve extravaganza at the RBC Center in downtown Raleigh, NC was out of this world! Don't forget to check out www.vyzionradio.com for nonstop REAL Dj mixes. I get so sick of turning on the radio and hearing the same ol' stuff playing on the radio. Not only does Vyzion Radio introduce new hot mixes, they also give indi artists like myself a chance to prove themselves. Download the Vyzion Radio app. on your smartphone today! Keep rockin with ya girl and be prepared for big things to happen! 2012 is not the end....it's only the beginning....I'm just sayin;)
Just when I feel that my music that I've been working my butt off on in the studio sounds perfect...IT GETS BETTER! Thanks to Playground Studios, I was able to take my songs to the next level! I know a lot of people have been asking me where I have been....just know that I haven't quit or anything ridiculous like that, I've just been working really hard to get my songs perfected. I hope you all will love them as much as I do. Other than that God is Good. He has blessed me with a car, patience, and a terrific vocal/production team. So keep rockin' with ya girl and stay tuned!! <3
It's 2012 and I'm ready to begin my great adventure ahead of me. I don't know what the future holds....but i know God has a plan for me. A new chapter in my life has begun and for some reason, not to be cliche, but I just know something big is in store for me this year. Regardless of the rumors saying "world is going to end", I believe something will BEGIN. Count your blessings and look forward to the future...
